Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

Enough with savory beers. How about salted, says Dual Citizen and Lupulin in a new collaboration just a week after Fair State dropped their own one-off “hot IPA.” The new styles join a wealth of other India-style pale ales: cold, black, dry-hopped, wet-hopped, session, double, and triple are all new Freshies for the week– and we haven’t even gotten into the hazy scale yet.

But it’s not all IPA all the time. There are Halloween pastry beers, pumpkin ales, and plenty of dark-hued beers for the looming colder weather, including a few throwbacks, an ESB, and a couple of California commons.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Arbeiter Wildflyer Coffee Stout – A collaboration with the Minnehaha Avenue coffee shop with a mission.

Dangerous Man Brewing Smoke Show – A Nine Mile collaboration, Smoke Show is a malt-forward altbier with hints of smoke and hop bitterness

Dual Citizen Brewing Company Thirst Trap – A collaboration with Lupulin, this is a “salted IPA,” the brewery says, presenting “Aromas of melon, lychee, and tempered orange peel. Medium body with a moderate bitterness balanced with salinity that invites another sip. Finishes dry with pithy grapefruit notes and a skosh of salt.” 6% ABV, 70 IBU.

Modist Brewing Ritual Night – A Mexican-style dark chocolate stout made with cocoa nibs, milk sugar, Mexican vanilla beans, cinnamon, and ancho chili peppers.

Rapids Brewing Co. Hoky – A wet-hopped pale ale brewed with Chinook and Zeus hops, each from different farms. “This brew uses our base pale malt from Maltwerks, with a small addition of Crystal malt to give it a nice copper hue and add a hint of sweetness. With mellow, earthy, herbal aromas this pale ale offers a slightly dank impression,” the brewery says. 5.9% ABV, 33 IBU.
