Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

Craft beer in the here and now is known for eccentric titles and pushing boundaries. But sometimes it’s direct and simple, naming the style for the color of what’s in your glass. Beer styles of the week include brown ale, blonde ale, red ale, and, depending on how you feel about the traditional, green too. Plus plenty of dry Irish stouts to round it out.

Saint Patrick’s Day undoubtedly influences the new taps this week, but it’s not the only big calendar date. We also see several pie-inspired beers from 3.14, as well as easy-drinking beers for people who like beer, from Pilsner to Mexican-style lager and Kölsch-style ales.

Find holiday-themed parties, a pub crawl across the North Loop, and a soft opening of Broken Clock’s new taproom, and more this weekend.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers that we’re most excited to try.
