Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

L

et the light beers flow! American lagers, saisons, grisettes and a wave of fresh new seltzer flavors abound this week – crisp, bright, bubbly and sometimes often with a dose of lime. Summer is still in full force, with Minnesotans making the most of lake season, patio parties and taproom events.

We also have some intriguing new collaborations, such as a 4-brewery triple IPA from BlackStack and a dual brewery saison at both Bad Weather and Waldmann, which doubles as a fundraisers for ALS charities.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Bent Paddle Brewing Co. Jas Hands – A light rice lager with floral jasmine and crackery malt character. 4.7% ABV, 24 IBU.

BlackStack Brewing Sunday Scaries – A four-way collaboration double dry-hopped triple IPA. This beer was made with Idaho 7, Talus, El Dorado, and HBC 586 hops wit help from Fair State, Forager, and Modist. 9.99% ABV.

Castle Danger Brewery Gooseberry Grisette – A limited taproom release and charitable fundraise, this beer offers notes of gooseberries, white grapes, citrus, and pears. “It is light-bodied with mild bitterness and finishes dry and clean,” the brewery says.

Thousand Lakes Brewing Co. Coldhands – “Coldhands is light-bodied, light in color and fermented cool with a lager yeast,” the brewery says. “This treatment creates a very crisp, neutral beer that lets the hops shine and is extremely drinkable. This IPA screams with unadulterated hop flavor and aroma from additions of Mosaic, Strata, El Dorado and Centennial.”

Waldmann Brewery Ales For ALS – A unique and charitable saison, brewed in collaboration with Bad Weather, who have their own variant (listed above). Fermented at low temperature and featuring Yakoma Valley hops, this beer taps at 12pm today.
