Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

T

he Minnesota State Fair continues, including a treasure trove of one-off beers that are served at the Great Minnesota Get-Together and likely hitting a few taprooms with leftover kegs soon after.

Besides the fruited and weird, though, the theme of the week is lagers, be they Italian-influenced Pilsners, light and crushable American lagers, or German-style festbiers. The category is deservedly growing, but with a crafty touch, as Minnesota breweries find ways to make Märzen their own, adding locally grown barley, Minnesota maple, and more.

And if that doesn’t move you, there are lots of new hazies and dry-hopped options as well. Here’s what’s new on tap, in liquor stores, and for take-home from breweries too.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Angry Inch Never Ending: Pink Boots – “Taste the difference a single ingredient makes, as well as experience what a couple weeks of maturation does for a DDH NEIPA,” Angry Inch says.

Back Channel Foamy Roots – A New England-style IPA made with Phantasm, featuring melon and orange notes and pouring at 6.75% ABV.

Giesenbräu Muzza Pils – An unfiltered and dry-hopped Italian-style Pilsner with a crisp profile and a balanced herbal and floral Saphir hop note. Brewed for an upcoming private wedding, but also available at the brewery, tapped last month.

Half Pint Czech Yo Head – A Czech-style Pilsner brewed with Bohemian floor-malted Pilsen malt and Saaz hops.

Oliphant SpRYEders! – Brewed in collaboration with Drekker, this is a red rye IPA at 7.5% ABV.
