Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

T

he calendar has turned to August, which means it’s also Oktoberfest season with the first fest and Marzen’s hitting taplines now. But that doesn’t mean summer is over, or close to it—the stein-hoisting parties are still weeks away. This week’s parties are more localized, celebrating anniversaries and community or charitable organizations.

Other beer trends this week include a big dose of tropical fruit flavors, including pineapple sours and hoppy hazies with pineapple-like, hop-driven notes. On the non-alcoholic side, a new local hop water is also flowing just across the Wisconsin border and a new THC NA sour is available in Minneapolis.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Bad Weather Munich Helles Lager – A clear, dry lager that is a pale straw in color with a creamy white head, the brewery notes. On tap and in cans too.

Badger Hill Brewing Company Three Witches Pale Ale – A balanced pale ale with slight sweet and slight bitter notes, made with a blend of Cascade, Centennial, Simcoe, and EKG hops as well as CaraHell malt, which inspired its name.

Bemidji Brewing Oktoberfest – “Brewed with traditional German malts, hops and yeast this beer is burnt-orange in color and full of toasty malt goodness. Vienna and Munich malts lend a rich, bread-like character while Hallertau hops bring a bit of herbal spice to this festive lager,” the brewery says of this seasonal lager. 5.8% ABV, 28 IBU.

Eastlake Craft Brewery High & Dry – “A pineapple and mango flavored, non-alcoholic sour beer, infused with 5mg of THC derived from hemp,” Eastlake explains, sold in cans at the brewery, beginning on Thursday.

StormKing Brewpub and Barbecue Max Haze – HBC 630, Belma, and Mosaic hops combine in this hazy IPA with pineapple, strawberry, cherry, and peach flavors.
