Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

C

elebration and appreciation go hand-in-hand. This week’s newly tapped beers follow this theme, showing and sharing the love: to brewery staff, to important organizations, and to significant milestones.

From brown ales to barrel-aged, there’s a wide variety of new beers flowing. Find traditional beer styles from Europe, tropically-toned hop varieties from New Zealand, and wild mixes that include everything from nuts to marshmallow fluff among this week’s Freshies

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability. 

BlackStack Brewing I Am The Manager (I Don’t Intend To Pay For This) – An IPA made with Strata, Ekuanot Cryo, Loral Cryo, Mosaic, and HBC 568 hops in solidarity with service industry workers. 8.4% ABV.

Elm Creek Brewing Co. Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Embrace – “A full-bodied dark Belgian strong brewed with fresh maple syrup, then aged for 12 months in maple bourbon barrels. Giving this beer even more maple flavors with a smooth bourbon finish,” the brewery says. Available on Saturday.

Fair State Brewing Cooperative Medieval England Reference – A malt-forward ESB, pouring 5.6% ABV and served on nitro at the brewery (which also celebrates Oktoberfest and its anniversary this Saturday from 1-10pm.

Junkyard Brewing Co. Flip Flops and Wheelies – “100% Mosaic hops lend juicy, tropical aromas,” Junkyard says. “Next, the flavor kicks it into high gear with big, bold notes of pine and citrus, followed by a crisp, clean finish.”

Number 12 Cider Old World Dry – A blend of traditional European bittersweet apples combine for notes of raisin and stonefruit with a bold and tannic finish, the cidery says. 7.9% ABV. Taproom only.

  • Empower Sour – A sour ale with black currant and mango, brewed for International Women’s Day and benefitting the Alexandra House.

Alloy Brewing Company

  • Doreen Gose Brewing – A white wine barrel-aged blackberry gose and part of the ongoing Employee Appreciation series. 4.6% ABV, 0 IBU.
  • Oktoberfest Nummer Eins – “Our Märzen-style Oktoberfest lager partners Deutschland malts with German noble hops to give this beer a rich, malty backbone,” the brewery explains. 6.3% ABV, 19 IBU.

Avery Brewing Co.

  • Patrol Dog – A new year-round pale ale, sold in 6-packs, and brewed in collaboration with national Ski patrol to benefit avalanche rescue dog programs across the country.

BeerClub Brewing

Bent Paddle Brewing Co.

  • Lollygagger Pale A small batch of Lollygagger returns for the brewery’s onsite Yard Sale event with Loll Designs this Saturday.

BlackStack Brewing

  • I Am The Manager (I Don’t Intend To Pay For This) – Top Flight selection
  • Microdosing: Strata – A Strata-hopped “once a day IPA” at 7.2% ABV.
  • Read The Room – A fruited sour ale with a combination of pineapple, passion fruit, mango, and raspberry, then foeder-aged. 6.0% ABV.
  • Slice of Life – A new 10.0% ABV West Coast-style triple IPA featuring a blend of Simcoe, Idaho 7, Nugget, Mosaic Cryo, and Mosaic Spectrum Oil hops.
  • Stacks In The Park – The second triple IPA listed this week, this triple dry-hopped offering is made with a blend of Citra Incognito, Strata, Cashmere, Talus Cryo, and HBC 586 Cryo hops. 9.7% ABV.

Dangerous Man Brewing Company

  • Canna Blissed Tonic – Available now, this THC-enhanced beverage is flavored with passion fruit, orange, and guava, with 3 servings of 4.5 mg per can. 0% ABV, gluten free.
  • Pecan Brown Ale – An American brown ale with pecan. 5.8% ABV, 20 IBU.

Elm Creek Brewing Co.

  • Maple Bourbon Barrel Aged Belgian Embrace – Top Flight selection
  • Seeing Through Walls – A coffee stout collaboration with Kinder Coffee Lab (St. Cloud), defined by rich coffee flavors with dark roast, chocolate, and subtle vanilla notes. 5.5% ABV.

  • Medieval England Reference – Top Flight selection

FINNEGANS Brew Co.

  • Barrel-Aged Bearded Ears – This Barrels of Life series beer is a 6.7% ABV oak-conditioned saison with spelt and sour notes. 
  • Hop Water – A carbonated non-alcoholic house hop water is also now available at the brewery.

Hacienda Beer Co.

  • Closer Everywhere – A 7.1% ABV hazy IPA made with Mosaic, Cashmere, and Chinook hops. Released

Half Pint Brewing Company

  • German Marzen Oktoberfest – A malty lager with a balanced hop bitterness.

Hop & Barrel Brewing Spring Valley

  • Dark Ace – This dark lager offers bready malt flavors with notes of chocolate and toffee.

Inbound BrewCo

  • Two new non-alcoholic, hopped beverages are available:
    • Hop Tea: Audition #1 – Made with black tea, Idaho 7 hops, Yerba Mate, and nutritional yeast.
    • Hop Tea: Audition #2 – Made with black tea and Idaho 7 hops.

  • Hazy IPA
  • Lemonade Sour

Island City Brewing Co.

  • Märzen – Now on pour, this 5.6% ABV, 32 IBU lager is amber-orange in color with rich and toasty bread-like flavors, the Winona brewery says.

Jack Pine Brewery

  • Czech Your Attitude – A dark lager, back on tap.

Junkyard Brewing Co.

  • Flip Flops and Wheelies – Top Flight selection
  • Green Fluff – A once-per-year golden ale with added pistachios, pineapple, and marshmallow for fruit salad-like tones.
  • Nectar-Tron – Flavors of passion fruit, pineapple, peach, grapefruit, and citrus.
  • Uncle Chuck’s Czech – A traditional Czech-style Pilsner.

Lake Monster Brewing

  • Loonatick – A Strata-hopped fresh hop ale with flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit, plus herbal and dank notes.

Lakes & Legends Brewing Company

  • Bawk Bock – A German-inspired lager tapped last Saturday.

Number 12 Cider

  • Honeyberry – A semi-dry cider with berry-forward, fruity flavors including raspberry and black currant. 6.2% ABV and available at the taproom now.

Pryes Brewing Co.

  • 2022 Barrel Carving – Now available, this imperial pumpkin ale is described as “smooth, copper-orange pumpkin beer has notes of traditional spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. We also matured it over many months in rye whiskey barrels, giving it a silky, butterscotchy, and spicy taste with notes of freshly baked pumpkin bread, clove, and vanilla,” Pryes says.

Third Street Brewhouse

  • Oktoberfest – Tapped last month.

Thousand Lakes Brewing Co.

  • Adley Ale – “This batch is made with a blend Amarillo, Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Columbus hops giving it a slightly more fruity nose with a complex mix of flavors including citrus, a touch of tropical fruit with plenty of earthy, dank pine,” the brewery says of its latest experimental series IPA.
  • Caesar’s Bellybutton – Orange smoothie sour
  • I Know Nothing – Festbier
  • Tiny Bubbles – A tropical POG flavored hard seltzer with passion fruit, orange, and guava flavors.
  • Upper Crust – A pastry sour modeled after a rhuberry crisp, made with strawberry, blackberry, rhubarb, vanilla, cinnamon, granola, and lactose.

Three Twenty Brewing Company

  • Pert’Near Cream Ale – A limited beer with added peach puree, available in limited supply.
  • So Fresh and So Pale Ale – A malty pale ale made with fresh Cascade hops grown in St. Croix Falls, WI. 6% ABV, 30 IBU.

Torg Brewery

  • Brautbier – Torg’s Marzen-style lager. 
  • Porter Orc – A 5.9% ABV Baltic-style porter.

Under Pressure Brewing Company

  • Märzen

Venn Brewing Company

  • Paloma THC Seltzer – The first in a new line of seltzers infused with Minnesota-grown, hemp-derived THC and real fruit. “Our first batch, Paloma, is made with real grapefruit, real lime, sea salt, + 5mg of THC per Crowler,” Venn says.

Waconia Brewing Company

  • Laketown Brown – Back on tap today. The brewery is also preparing for its eighth anniversary celebration, taking place Oct. 21-22.

Wild Mind Ales

  • Swing Oil – Described as a “golf course Pilsner.”

Wooden Hill Brewing Co.

  • Pumpkin Juice – The 5% ABV fall seasonal is back. Made with a combination of spices, lactose, and vanilla. Also featured in the Jack-O-Lantern beer cocktail with Chocolate Crow stout.
