Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

W

elcome to the January haze. Yes, the days are a smidge longer, but the cloudy days outnumber sunshine and, likewise, the IPAs are more hazy than clear as Minnesotans do what they can to dream of the tropics. You’ll find mango, pineapple, papaya, and bright citrusy IPAs throughout the state right now in pillowy IPAs that will have you thinking of beaches as you dig out from the latest storm.

But it’s far from just hazies on tap right now. Nonalcoholic offerings are big for Dry January, with locally made NA recipes tapping, new hop waters, and THC drinks for those seeking something a little different.

And that’s just a small sample of what’s available in this week’s Freshies list, which you’ll find below.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights the most tantalizing new beers available across the state that we’re most excited to try. Check out these Top Flights at Dabbler Depot—Click on each image for stock levels.

Arbeiter Winterzeit Golden Lager 4pk 16oz –  Winterzeit is a Golden lager, not to be confused with amber lagers in the style of Märzen/Oktoberfest. Despite the lower alcohol content, it stands tall on a blended base of bright German Pilsener and bready German Munich malts with delicately balanced floral hop notes, a great, long-lasting white head, and a moderately full body. It shares traits similar to Helles and Maibock. 4.6% ABV

Insight Paint Job DDH Hazy DIPA 4pk 16oz – The newest Hazy release from Insight is a sturdy Double IPA that features a unique blend of hops that all bring something different to the table and complement each other perfectly. Luminosa provides a burst of tropical fruit flavors with almost zero resinous/piney hop character while Strata CGX adds a dank, citrus fruitiness and traditional Mosaic offers earthy and berry notes. 8.6% ABV

Weldwerks French Toast Stout 4pk 16oz – French Toast Stout is brewed with lactose, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, and maple syrup. Decidedly sweet, yet surprisingly drinkable, French Toast Stout opens with a huge burst of maple syrup, lending way to caramel malt sweetness, a hint of bittersweet chocolate and coffee from the roasted malts, subtle, yet rich cinnamon spice from the Vietnamese cinnamon sticks, and just a hint of vanilla in the finish to round it all out. It’s breakfast in a glass, no fork is needed. 7.1% ABV

Weldwerks Alora DDH Juicy Bits Hazy IPA 4pk 16oz – Hazy India Pale Ale Brewed and Double Dry Hopped with Citra, Mosaic, El Dorado + Alora Hops. 6.7% ABV

Wild State Juicy Pear 4pk 12oz – Delicious fresh-pressed apples and pears leaving a refreshing, sweet, and well-balanced cider. 5.6% ABV
