Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries. 

I

t’s not all kitchen sink sours and double IPAs, but we have a lot of them this week. If ingredients like Citra, Mosaic, and Strata hops with fruit additions of watermelon, kiwi, passion fruit, banana, and guava (even local honey and basil) move you, we probably have a beer for you.

If you’re on the hunt for something completely different, the local THC market has reinvented itself post-August 1 law changes, with a few new options. Check them out below!

Barrel Theory Are We Having Fun Yet? DDH DIPA 4pk 16oz – Double Dry-Hopped DIPA with Riwaka, Galaxy, and Citra hops. 8% ABV 

Junkyard Christian Bale Ale Pale Ale 4pk 16oz – Session IPA with Citra, Belma, and El Dorado hops 4.2% ABV 

Ska Brewing The Ska Lager 6pk 12oz – Ska Lager is a no-nonsense, snappy, crisp, bright, easy-drinking lager with the gentlest floral aroma lent from its additions of Tettnang and Bravo hops. It’s a beer that makes you want another beer. 4.8% ABV 

Transient Artisan Ales Happy Little Trees DDH Double IPA 4pk 16oz – Double Dry-Hopped DIPA loaded to the brim with Simcoe. Centennial and Chinook play back up with their grapefruit/sap/resin aromas.  8% ABV

Ska Brewing Prickly Pear Sour Ale 4pk 16oz –Smooth with a noticeable tartness. A light melon sweetness is balanced out by real prickly pear added during fermentation. Pours a STUNNING magenta color. 7.2% ABV

Back Channel Brewing Co.

  • Crushin’ Dishes A cream ale with sweet corn and floral character. 5.25% ABV.
  • Green Party A THC seltzer with mango, pineapple, and tangerine. 10mg THC, no alcohol.
  • Ten Letter Word Flavors of peach, apricot, and melon set the tone in a 6.75% ABV New England-style IPA on draft and sold in select liquor stores.

Back Shed Brewing

  • Pineapple Upside-Down Cake A smoothie-style sour ale that tapped last Sunday.
  • Stompin’ Daisies An anniversary IPA, tapped last weekend.
  • We Like 2 Party Another anniversary beer that debuted last Saturday.

Bad Habit Brewing Company

  • Beach Bum Mango Described as a  light, refreshing beer with mango.
  • Cherry Limeade A purple-hued hard seltzer.
  • Swing Juice A 4.9% ABV Kolsch-style ale.

Bad Weather Brewing Company

  • Nimbus – “A brand new American Pale Ale brewed with classic American hops Chinook, Amarillo, Centennial and a new experimental hop from Hopsteiner HS17701. Bright aromas of peaches, apricots, and a hint of resin. Flavors of peach, melon, biscuit and a hint of honey,” explains the brewery.

  • Pils Back on tap after a short break, this single decoction lager blends German and American traditions.

Badger Hill Brewing Company

The first batches brewed in the new Badger Hill brewhouse are pouring:

  • Belgian Table Beer “This light, refreshing style was chosen based on the many subtle challenges presented in the brewing process,” the brewery says.
  • Newf Drool Brown ale
  • Strawberry Rhubarb Sour

Bang Brewing

  • DIPA Tapped in early July.

Barrel Theory Beer Company

  • High Top Crocs A juicy IPA “with big tropical fruit and subtle herbaceous aromas wafting from the glass and notes on your palate of sweet and pithy citrus, crushed just underripe white grapes, hints of berries, and drippy mangos all carried on a cloudy, creamy texture,” the brewery says.

Bemidji Brewing

  • Oktoberfest A German-style Marzen lager with toast, rich, bread-like flavors. 5.8% ABV, 28 IBU.

Bent Brewstillery

  • Maple Bacon Donut A THC soda sold in 16-ounce cans. 10mg THC, nonalcoholic.

Drekker Brewing Co.

  • Benevolent Intentions Hopped with Hallertau Blanc, Belma, and Citra, this juicy double IPA offers notes of kiwi, peach, and bubble gum.
  • Braaaaaaaains! A smoothie-style sour ale made with passion fruit, pineapple, banana, sea salt, lactose, and vanilla.
  • Chonk: Bahama Split Guava, pineapple, banana, kiwi, lactose, and vanilla soft serve in a single tropically-inspired drink.
  • Doomsday King A limited double IPA collaboration with Corks and Kegs (Richmond, VA), brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops. Brewery only (including in Virginia).
  • Everybody Love Everybody A rainbow sherbet sour collaboration with The Brewing Projekt, this is made with lemon, lime, orange, cherry, raspberry, guava, marshmallows, lactose,vanilla beans, and rainbow sherbet too.
  • Smol: Lil’ Fruited Sour A fruited sour with cherry and lime.
  • With All Your Power A double IPA brewed with a bunch of oats and hopped with Talus and HBC 586 so it’s just oozing with strawberry, pineapple, and grapefruit aroma and bursting with dark cherry, blueberry, mango, and grapefruit zest flavors, says Drekker.

Imminent Brewing

  • Honey Basil Ale Back on tap, this 5.7% ABV, 17 IBU unique beer is made with local ingredients. Restrained hop presence lets the sweet basil aroma through, Imminent explains.

Inbound BrewCo

  • Nershi Nectar A hazy 5% ABV pale ale brewed for Nershfest, which takes place at Inbound this Saturday from 12-10pm.

Junkyard Brewing Co.

  • Czech Dark Lager A dark Czech-style lager.
  • Grandpa Bill’s Pils – A crisp and light Pilsner, dry-hopped with Citra. Now sold in 4-packs.
  • Saskatooner – A Berliner Weisse sour ale with blueberries.
  • Squeezie: Blue Raspberry A new flavor of sparkling THC beverage. Nonalcoholic.
  • Summer Special – A summer blonde ale with lime.
  • Tangerine Super Slush – “This tart and creamy fruited sour was brewed with lactose, conditioned on Madagascar vanilla beans, and loaded to the brim with juicy tangerines to create the perfect mix of sweet supple sour,” says the brewery.

Lakeville Brewing Co.

  • Pacific Breeze A new 6.6% ABV hazy IPA.

Oliphant Brewing

  • Blight This THC sparkling water is lime-flavored with no added sugars. 5mg THC, 5mg CBD.
  • S’Mornees S’Mornees A s’mores golden ale made with peanut butter and honey. 5.6% ABV.

Pantown Brewing Company

  • WaterLemon Gose

Pryes Brewing Co.

  • Arctic Kiss A cold IPA with smooth, citrus-y flavors courtesy of a Strata + Citra + Centennial hop profile.

Rapids Brewing Co.

  • Berry Gose With a maroon meets ruby red hue, this sour gose is made with honeyberries and a dose of salt. 4.5% ABV.
  • C³lassic Pale Ale An American pale ale built on a base of Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops. 5.4% ABV.

Reads Landing Brewing Co.

  • Blufflands Strawberry Hefeweizen A light and easy drinking hefeweizen with a strawberry twist for a slightly tart profile, the brewpub explains.

Saint Paul Brewing

  • Tiny Umbrellas A smoothie-style sour ale made with pink guava, passion fruit, strawberry, coconut, tamarind, and vanilla. 100% vegan, no lactose. “Tropical, sweet and slightly tart,” the brewery adds. 7.1% ABV. Made in collaboration with Pryes.

Sisyphus Brewing

  • The Banana Boss A summer seasonal hefeweizen with yeast-derived banana-like flavors.

Summit Brewing Co.

  • Oktoberfest – On draft now and hitting stores too.

Surly Brewing Co.

  • Lost Resort On tap and in new stores, the beer features Sabro and Experimental #17701 hops with added lime and pineapple.

Urban Forage Winery & Ciderhouse

  • Hopped Cider A lightly sweet and lightly hopped cider with notes of grapefruit zest. Limited.

Venn Brewing Company

  • Belgian Dreamboat A white IPA with orange and vanilla. 6.2% ABV.
  • Bull Brand A new light lager collaboration with Bull’s Horn. 4.4% ABV.

Waconia Brewing Company

  • Oktoberfest In liquor stores now and tapping in mid-August at the brewery.

Wooden Hill Brewing Co.

  • Desert Squeeze A 5% ABV sour ale made with prickly pear and lactose.
  • Dry Bean Back on tap today, this blonde ale is steeped with whole coffee beans. 6.4% ABV.
  • Scotty’s Milk Stout A 5% ABV milk stout, served at nitro and only available at the brewery.
