Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

A

fter years of waiting, it’s Darkness Day in Minneapolis. And the darkness isn’t just because Daylight Savings Time is here to mess up your circadian rhythm. Bottle sales can (finally) take place on Surly Brewing’s grounds due to loosening liquor laws, leading to a party in Prospect Park. There are also Oktoberfest celebrations, sour festivals and more taking place throughout the state and, to keep that dark ‘n’ evil theme going, a surprising amount of 6.66% ABV beers this week too.

The clock change and numerology aren’t the only movements toward more darkness, either. Porters, oatmeal stouts, and ambers are hitting taplines and liquor stores from the 218 to the 507 and more.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Bad Habit Brewing Company Get Luxy Wet Hop – A wet hop IPA made with hops grown by Luxy 13.

Falling Knife Brewing Company 365 Days Of Incidents – The anniversary triple dry-hopped triple IPA at 9.99% ABV to debut as the brewery celebrates with a day-long, music-filled party on Saturday. This IPA features a blend of HBC 586, Mango Cryo, Talus Lupomax, and Mosaic Cryo hops.

Little Thistle Brewing Co. Grab(urschnitzel) – Oktoberfest lager, available on tap and sold in stores.

Surly Brewing Co. 2022 Lumberjack Breakfast Darkness – This 2022 Darkness variant was aged in bourbon barrels with maple, coffee, cinnamon, and vanilla beans.

Venn Brewing Lunarising – A cold weather seasonal breakfast stout with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla to compliment its malt-derived toffee and molasses notes.
