Welcome to Beer Dabbler’s Freshies, our weekly rundown on the newest beers hitting the store shelves and taproom coolers in Minnesota from your favorite local and national breweries.

B

ig triple IPAs and imperial stouts hit the market this week as celebratory beer releases for milestone brew batches and anniversaries, but the bigger trend is towards less alcohol. Summit has introduced a new line of non-alcoholic beer, and alcohol-free THC-infused drinks maintain a growing presence.

So whether seeking a hop-forward IPA, an adjunct-added big stout, or something in between like a tart raspberry beer or smooth German-influenced lager, there’s plenty to choose from.

Each week, the Beer Dabbler team highlights five of the most tantalizing new beers available around the great state of Minnesota that we’re most excited to try. Top Flight beers are not necessarily available for purchase at Dabbler Depot–call for availability.

Bad Weather Brewing Company Barrel Aged Immortal Toast – Sold only in bottles at the brewery, this is a limited batch of Immortal Toast white stout with coffee, chocolate, and vanilla, aged in a Tri Malt Whiskey barrel from J. Carver.

Bent Paddle Brewing Co. Dunkel – A Munich-style dunkel lager with malty flavors of bread, caramel, and dark fruit.

Forager Brewery Ants (Vintage 2022) – “This barrel-aged savory stout takes inspiration from authentic Mexican Mole sauce. We took hand harvested Mexican Chicatana ants and blended them with Mexican Chiapas cocoa nibs, Ceylon cinnamon sticks from Vera Cruz, pompano, bahiana, and Planifolia vanilla beans from around Mexico with a blend of Mexican dried chilis, Forager says of its 14% ABV imperial stout.

Summit Brewing Co. Nialas Irish-Style Dark – A stout-style n/a beer with espresso, chocolate and caramel-like flavors countered with spicy hop elements.

Steel Toe Brewing Douglas Black IPA – “Named after the Douglas Fir, native to the Pacific Northwest, this Cascadian Dark Ale/Black IPA is brewed to impart a big punch of hops while maintaining the qualities of a dark ale,” Steel Toe explains.
